A Spot of DIY..

So recently I've become aware of a whole myriad (good word) of craft networks online. So I got a sewing machine last Christmas which may sound lame but I did textiles at school and I'm well into the whole DIY movement.. but anyway I was searching for stuff to make and I uncovered this treasure trove! I love the satisfaction of making something, and I also think it's really special to give handmade things as presents (it's also good for if you're super skint, like me atm!). Here are some of my favourites:

Fabric Flower Garland - I think this could look really cute in a bedroom or at a special occasion (it was listed on a wedding site). The real beauty is that it's actually really easy to make, just a little time consuming. I was hoping to do one but have only managed a few flowers so far. I love the colour scheme used in this photo but I've started mine with a few different patterned fabrics and I think that'll look good too.

Leather Ring - again a lot easier than it looks! The problem with this is that the things to make it are a little difficult to find, but maybe I just don't know the right places to look. I think it looks great for a DIY project though!

Terrarium Light Bulb - wow! I love how crazy this is yet it really works. Great for a little college room or something as an alternative to the standard cactus/spider plant that students always get! Plus it doesn't need watering! I would love to get round to this one day - only prob is again finding the materials.

Scrap Paper Tree - probably my favourite. I love it!! Made some half-hearted attempts to make this, so far only cut out a few leaves. Think it's amazing though.

Walnut Necklace - if you haven't already guessed from this selection I'm a bit of a nature freak (Environmental Scientist BSc if you must know..!). I love using natural things to make stuff, and if it involves recycling as well it's a double win!

Anyway I hope you feel inspired! And obv let me know if you try any of these. Hope you've enjoyed my first proper post! Ciao! Xx

First One...

"No one can possibly know what is about to happen: it is happening, each time, for the first time, for the only time" (J.A. Baldwin)

So today's news is that I have started a blog. Welcome.
